BATIC Trust Paralympic Project

Throughout September and October 2012, schools across the Trust enjoyed taster sessions in a wide range of Paralympic sports.

Specialist Sports Coaches visited schools for a full day and provided coaching to up to 150 students across the day per school in Sitting Volleyball, Goalball and Boccia.  In total, over 1000 children enjoyed these taster sessions.

The project culminated in a “Celebration Event” at The Deanes School where Infant and Primary School children enjoyed a carousel of activities, including an extra special session with the Essex Outlaws Wheelchair Basketball team.

The atmosphere was fantastic throughout the whole project and we are confident that this has had the desired effect of raising awareness of Paralympic sports.

Thanks to the student leaders of The Deanes School who helped to organise and deliver the festival in such a professional way.

This project was made possible by way of funding received from the London Olympic Committee and all involved are extremely grateful.
